As a dedicated trauma therapist, educator, and trauma-sensitive Yoga Facilitator with over three decades of experience in mental health, my journey into embodied healing wasn't just professional—it was deeply personal. For years, I sat across from clients who gained powerful insights yet still felt stuck in the same patterns. I watched them understand their problems perfectly while still feeling disconnected from themselves. And I experienced this myself—knowing all the psychological theories but still feeling like something fundamental was missing.

That missing piece? The body's wisdom bridged together with the mind’s understanding.

This revelation came into sharp focus while working alongside world-renowned trauma expert Dr. Bessel van der Kolk over a decade ago.

When I finally started working with my body instead of just my mind, everything shifted. Not because I discovered some magical technique, but because I finally acknowledged what research had been showing for decades: trauma, stress, and emotions live in our nervous systems and physical tissues, not just in our thoughts.

This realisation led me to completely transform my approach, bringing together evidence-based somatic practices with traditional psychotherapy to create something that actually works.

These experiences have taught me that clinical knowledge matters, but so does genuine human connection. I bring both to our work together.

My personal transformation

Even as a successful therapist, I eventually realised I was giving too much while neglecting my own needs. The high-achieving part of me kept pushing, ignoring my body's signals until they became too loud to ignore.

So I made a radical change—relocating to Bali, embracing a hybrid work model combining online and in-person sessions, and making my own embodiment practices non-negotiable. This wasn't just self-care; it was practicing what I preach about listening to the body's wisdom.

This personal journey deepened my commitment to walking the walk—not just guiding others toward embodied healing but living it myself.

It was scary to quiet the voice telling me to "work hard the old fashioned way," but I knew this shift was essential…
