If your body feels like a stranger, if its as if you’re always on high alert. You might be dealing with the effects of trauma.
You see the pattersn, can spot your triggers, and know all the things you theoretically should be doing, thinking or feeling. But when it comes to actually feeling safe, present and at peace when uncomfortable moments, flashbacks or feelings come? That’s a different story.
If you find yourself going numb, shutting down or feeling disconnected from physical sensations, you’re not alone. And you’re ot stuck - your body learned to protect you the only way it knew how.
Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) offers something talk therapy alone can’t: a pathway back to feeling at home in your body.

Feel unsafe or uncomfortable with physical sensations
Have tried traditional yoga but felt overwhelmed or triggered
Want to complement their therapy work with body-based techniques
Need gentle, choice-based approaches to reconnecting with themselves

What makes this different
The gold standard of trauma-informed Yoga
TCTSY isn’t just “trauma Informed” - its the original, evidence-based yoga intervention developed specifically for trauma recovery at the Trauma Center in Boston, Massachusetts. With over 20 years of research backing its effectiveness, this isn’t a wellness trend, its a proven science.
Led by a certified expert
Martine is one of the few certified TCTSY facilitators and licensed trainers globally. This isn’t someone who took a weekend workshop. This is deep, specialised training in the exact methodlogy developed by pioneers in this field.
Choice-based, not prescriptive
Unlike traditional yoga classes where you’re told what to do, TCTSY invites you to notice what’s happening in your body and choose what feels right for you. This rebuilds your sense of agency and control, essential elements often disrupted by trauma.
Works alongside traditional therapy
TCTSY is designed to complement, not replace, your other therapeutic work. It brings the body into treatment in a way that supports and enhances other forms of healing.
The 6-week journey back to your body
Here’s an overview of what we’ll explore each week.
-
Begin your journey with a gentle landing. In this first week, you’ll be introduced to the core principles of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). Learn how trauma impacts the body, why traditional yoga might feel overwhelming, and how a choice-based, invitational approach can offer a safe space for healing. This is where you start building your foundation — gently, intentionally, and at your own pace.
-
This week focuses on rediscovering your sense of autonomy. Trauma often disrupts the experience of having control over your body and choices. Through guided movement and reflection, you'll begin to notice what feels supportive, and make choices that honour your internal cues. It’s not about doing it right — it’s about reconnecting with your right to decide.
-
Start to decode the language of your body. Here, we explore how trauma patterns live in the nervous system and shape your daily experiences. Learn how fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses show up in your body, and how gentle movement can begin to create space for regulation. This is about shifting from confusion to clarity in your inner world.
-
So often, trauma keeps us anchored in the past or fearful of the future. This week offers tools to bring your attention back to the here and now — not by force, but with compassion. You'll experience simple practices that foster presence, helping you feel more grounded, embodied, and available to what’s actually happening in the moment.
-
Your body has always been speaking — now it's time to learn its language. This module is about tuning in to the subtle sensations within: your breath, your heartbeat, your internal cues. By developing interoception, you begin to sense what you need, what feels good, and what doesn’t — building self-trust from the inside out.
-
In our final week, we shift from guided support to empowered continuation. You’ll be invited to reflect on your experience, integrate what’s resonated, and consider how to sustain your practice beyond the course. The goal isn't perfection — it's reconnection. You’ll leave with tools, insights, and the growing confidence to walk forward, anchored in your own inner knowing.

From people who ‘ve walked this path
A unique transformation led by Martine Coates
I understand what it's like to feel like a stranger in your own body. After 20+ years as a mental health clinician, I've sat with countless people who could articulate their experiences beautifully but couldn't actually feel them.
I hear it, case after case, whether it’s going through your day feeling like you're watching yourself from the outside. Or having people ask "How are you feeling?" and genuinely not knowing how to answer. Feeling numb during moments that should be meaningful. Looking in the mirror and feeling disconnected from the person staring back. Sitting in your car after work, completely exhausted but unable to explain why. Having panic attacks that feel like they come from nowhere because you missed all the body signals leading up to them. Or the opposite: feeling nothing when you know you should feel something.
When I discovered the TCTSY approach to healing, this gentle, choice-based way of reconnecting literally changed my life and entire practice. I finally had the full set of tools to help people fully engage in holistic healing.
As one of only a handful of licensed TCTSY trainers globally, I don't just teach this methodology, I live it. I understand the particular loneliness of feeling disconnected from yourself, the frustration of being told to "listen to your body" when you can't hear anything, and the courage it takes to even consider reconnecting with a body that hasn't felt safe or familiar.
If you’re reading this and something in you recognises these experiences, please know: you’re not stuck, you’re not beyond help, and you’re not alone. Your body has been sending signals to help you find your way home. This course is simply the map for that journey
